We talked about him a few months ago, when we reviewed the great museums that will open this year. Now, Only a month remains for the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakech to open its doors. And we cannot resist reviewing every detail of what is called to be one of the world temples for fashionistas. Not surprisingly, it will include a selection of the Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent Foundation, with about five thousand clothes and fifteen thousand accessories, among other objects that will be exhibited and that, until now, were guarded in Paris. All couture, of course.
The building has been designed by French architecture studio Studio KO and is located on Rue Yves Saint Laurent, next to the famous Jardin Majorelle. With about 4,000 square meters of extension, the idea of the Foundation is to be more than a museum: it will have space for temporary exhibitions, a bookshop, a cafe-restaurant, a terrace and a research library with more than 5,000 volumes on Arab history , geography, literature, poetry, botany and, of course, Saint Laurent's work and the history of fashion in general.
Two maxims have governed the construction of the museum: the mixture of straight lines and curves that gave precedence to the luminosity inside, against the exterior of terracotta, and the importance of the environment being the optimum for the conservation of textile pieces that are Authentic works of art. Watching it closely and getting lost among its unique contents will be a good excuse to plan a getaway to Casablanca this fall, when it is inaugurated simultaneously to the one located in Paris.
